An “Artist Mentorship Program” funded by HCF focused on supporting poets, musicians, writers and artists who were newcomers to Canada.  Among its activities, the program helps artists access tools and materials basic supplies and gain exposure to their work, while at the same time helping to promote immigrant art and culture to Canadian multicultural society.

Vital Signs

Vital Signs

Hamilton’s Vital Signs is a new Hamilton Community Foundation report, to be published October 5 in partnership with the Hamilton Spectator.

It’s a snapshot of the city’s quality of life in ten key areas determined with the community. It gathers existing publicly-available data and puts it together in an easy to read format spotlighting our city’s issues and opportunities. More detailed information will be contained on a Hamilton Vital Signs website, with links to the original research.   It will also include results of a community poll on how citizens see where we are on each of the areas: moving in the right direction, concerned or unacceptable.

Across Canada, 15 other community foundations will issue Vital Signs for their cities on the same day.

We’re publishing Vital Signs as a way to offer knowledge of the city’s needs and opportunities. We hope it will provide food for thought, decision-making and action.

This is Hamilton’s first Vital Signs report. If you’d like to learn more about the initiative across Canada visit: http://www.vitalsignscanada.ca/index-e.html
